في 26 مارس 2015 انطلقت العمليات العسكرية العربية "عاصفة الحزم" ضد الحوثيين في اليمن بعد أن استطاعوا إسقاط الرئيس المنتخب عبد ربه منصور هادي وفي ظل تخوفات من سيطرة الحوثيين على مضيق باب المندب مما يهدد الملاحة في مصر والخليج، وحملت ردود أفعال التيارات الدينية تجاه مشاركة سلاح الطيران المصري في "عاصفة الحزم" الكثير من أوجه الجدل.
