منذ غزو العراق من قبل القوات الأميركية في نيسان عام 2003، تسجّل المنظمات المحليّة والدولية ارتفاعاً في أعداد الأيتام والأرامل بسبب تفاقم الوضع الأمني في البلاد الذي لم يشهد استقرار طوال السنوات العشر الماضية، وبات هذا يرمي بضلاله على المجتمع.
