Manager, Business Development & Events

Location: Washington D.C. (Hybrid office and remote policy)

Job type: Full-time

Position Overview: Al-Monitor, a trusted and award winning independent source of Middle East news and analysis, is seeking a Business Development and Events Manager to help drive revenue growth, particularly through corporate sponsorship acquisition and event management. You should be a motivated self-starter, eager to engage new sponsors for native advertising campaigns and virtual/physical event partnerships. You will report directly to the CEO and work closely with marketing and editorial teams.

Your core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving the:

  • Sales Cycle
    • Market Research: Conducting market research and business strategy & planning in order to identify the most fitting sponsor leads.
    • Lead Generation: Constantly growing the pipeline of potential sponsors, for all content mediums, through active lead generation.
    • Sales: In coordination with Management, pitching brand partnerships with private and public sector sponsors, through native advertising campaigns and events.
    • Account Management: Understanding our sponsors’ underlying goals and constantly ensuring value; managing up and cross selling opportunities with each sponsor.
  • Events Cycle
    • Third Party Event Participation: Ensuring Al-Monitor participates as a content partner in select flagship events related to geopolitics or business in the Middle East.
    • Al-Monitor Hosted Events: Generating leads and/or partnerships to launch new hosted events in Washington D.C., both physical and virtual, based on the diplomatic schedule of US officials and foreign delegations. 
    • Event Logistics: Owning the planning and coordination of event production, including speaker acquisition, registration/ticketing and agreements for venue selection and production vendors (i.e. catering, printing, IT, etc). Same for virtual logistics.

We’d expect you to have:

  • 3-5 years of sales, business development and/or event management experience.
  • Experience with meeting quarterly revenue targets, particularly digital media or event sponsorships.
  • The ability to quickly turn around tailored proposals following discussions with leads.
  • Passion for foreign policy and Middle Eastern affairs
  • A network of corporate sponsors with interests in the Middle East.

Administrative Assistant

Location: Washington, DC (hybrid office and remote policy)

Job type: Full Time

Position Overview:

Al-Monitor, a trusted and award winning independent source of Middle East news and analysis, is seeking an administrative assistant to manage business operations, logistics, and company administration in partnership with colleagues in different offices in the US and overseas.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee onboarding of new freelancer contributors into our system, sending and receiving documents, such as tax forms and contracts, and ensuring all information is complete
  • Upload new freelance contributors onto website
  • Organize necessary information and documents for hundreds of freelance contributors worldwide, always looking for new and more efficient methods
  • Correspond with freelancer contributors when necessary to obtain these records
  • Correspond with domestic and international employees over company records, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all procedures
  • Organize monthly invoices and finances for freelance contributors
  • Issue and approve all payments for freelance contributors through bank ACH and wire transfers
  • Supervise all financial matters with freelance contributors, resolving any questions or problems
  • Assist editors with various content support tasks on an as needed basis.

Requirements:

  • At least 2-3 years of administrative experience in an office environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in organizing and sending payments, knowledge of bank transfers a plus
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Skill in written and verbal communication, especially cross-cultural
  • Familiarity with the Middle East a plus, but not necessary

Compensation:

Competitive based on experience.
