Trump rules out US troops in Iran, leaves Pickaxe Mountain strike on the table
He did not dispute reports that the US military is weighing use of the "mother of all bombs."
WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump renewed his threat to strike Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain nuclear site as the seven-month war shows no sign of ending.
"We may have to go there," Trump said in a Thursday night interview with Newsmax. "We'll take a shot at that one. We'll knock it out fast."
Trump also said US ground troops were unlikely to take part in attacking the complex, saying "No, I don't see that. I don't see that."
The Iranian government has previously described Pickaxe Mountain as a centrifuge assembly plant, but the lack of inspector access since its construction in 2020 has raised concerns it could be used for other covert purposes, such as uranium enrichment.
