Three Turkish carriers have canceled all Iran flights, the first major domino to fall as new US sanctions further isolate the country’s already diminished aviation sector.

What happened: On Monday, three major Turkish carriers — Turkish Airlines, AJet and Pegasus — canceled flights to and from Iran ahead of new US sanctions against Iran’s aviation sector taking effect.

Turkish Airlines’ and AJet’s booking systems currently show no flights to Iran through March 2027, while Pegasus has removed those routes entirely.

Mahan Air, one of Iran’s largest carriers, suspended flights between Tehran and Muscat last week and told travel agencies that it would suspend flights to and from Istanbul and Ankara beginning Sept. 21.
