Iranian flights to the United Arab Emirates were canceled on Thursday, even as carriers continued serving other foreign destinations on the second day of a US push to ground them worldwide.

What happened: All flights by Iranian carriers to the UAE were canceled as of midnight, Iran’s ISNA news agency reported Thursday, citing a spokesperson for the country’s Civil Aviation Organization.

An Iran Airtour flight from Tehran to Dubai was canceled shortly before its scheduled departure Thursday morning, a passenger told Agence France-Presse. The UAE has not publicly confirmed that Iranian carriers have been banned.

Beyond the UAE, a Tehran-to-Dushanbe flight returned to the Iranian capital after Turkmenistan refused to allow the Iranian airline to cross its airspace, Civil Aviation Organization spokesperson Majid Akhavan told ISNA.
