WASHINGTON — As the White House weighs further involvement in Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against the Houthis, President Donald Trump said Tuesday he “might” ask Turkey to intervene.

“I might do it. President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan is a great friend of mine. I have a lot of respect for President Erdogan,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

The pair have deepened their personal rapport in Trump’s second term, with the US president viewing Erdogan as a key Middle East interlocutor and partner on regional security.

“President Erdogan, I think, would do as I ask,” he added.
