TEL AVIV — Judging by the absence of usual fanfare and ceremonial protocol, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's White House visit on Tuesday was a failure and a humiliation at the hands of President Donald Trump, a senior Israeli diplomatic source said.
While Netanyahu was making his case in Washington, Defense Minister Israel Katz revealed that American warplanes have been taking off from Israel to carry out strikes against Iran, a disclosure that risked provoking not only Tehran but also Washington.
Rough start
The visit, Netanyahu's eighth with Trump during the president's second term, reportedly started badly and went downhill from there.
