TEL AVIV — Israel is fighting on two fronts: one in Iran to wipe out its nuclear program, and another in Washington for the heart and mind of President Donald Trump.

Israel is throwing everything it has into both efforts, including highly classified intelligence it does not usually share with its strategic partners, to convince the Americans to join Israel’s operation. It is striving to allay US concerns that by striking the underground Fordow nuclear facility, the United States would shorten the war rather than expand it, endangering its troops and partners in the region.

Israel is trying to convince the administration that Iran has made significant progress toward a bomb, forcing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to launch the war, and that joining the fight could hasten the ayatollahs’ downfall.
