ANKARA — Two gunmen from a suspected far-left group attacked an Istanbul courthouse on Tuesday, killing one and wounding five before being killed by police officers. Three police officers were among the injured.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that one of the civilians wounded in the attack died at the hospital he was taken to.
Speaking in Kahramanmaras, the epicenter of the Feb. 6 earthquakes, marking the first anniversary of the disaster, Erdogan praised Turkish security forces for thwarting "this treacherous attack with their timely intervention."
"Turkey will continue its fight against all terrorist groups,” he added.
