Turkey summons US ambassador over top general's Syria visit

Washington's top general Mark Milley met with senior American commanders, but not with Kurdish officials, US officials said.

ANKARA — Turkey's government summoned US Ambassador Jeff Flake on Monday over top US general Mark Milley's visit to northeast Syria over the weekend, the country's state-run Anadolu News Agency reported.

Turkish officials reportedly sought an explanation for Milley's surprise visit on Saturday to an undisclosed US base in the Kurdish-controlled region of Syria.
