Gaza’s largest library shakes off dust of war, reopens doors

With tons of different new books, new life has been breathed into the Samir Mansour Library, one of the largest libraries and publishing houses in Gaza, after it was destroyed during the Israeli war last year.

With tons of different books placed on newly constructed wooden shelves, new life has been breathed into the Samir Mansour Bookshop and library, one of the largest bookshops, libraries and publishing houses in the Gaza Strip, after it was destroyed by Israeli planes during the last Israeli war on May 18, 2021.

The bookstore was reopened on Feb. 17 in the presence of Palestinian Minister of Culture Atef Abu Saif and a number of writers and intellectuals, with the help of a global donation campaign to relaunch the place.
