Syria sends consul-general to Dubai
UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus this week.
A Syrian diplomat who will head Syria's consulate in Dubai met with Emirati officials today.
Syria’s new consul-general to Dubai, Kinan Zahreddine, presented his credentials to Emirati officials in the United Arab Emirates’ largest city. Zahreddine will work to serve Syrian citizens in the city and Emirate of Dubai, Syria’s official news outlet SANA reported.

The UAE and much of the Arab world cut off relations with Syria in 2011 at the start of the civil war and backed rebel forces in the country. Syria was also expelled from the Arab League at the time. Many regional states have since recalculated their policy toward Syria, where Assad’s government is now in control of most of the country again.
