President Joe Biden called Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett Aug. 26 after their meeting was postponed, following the double suicide attack in Afghanistan. Biden thanked Bennett for his willingness to postpone the meeting and said he looked forward to meeting Bennett on Friday. The meeting is planned for 11:00 a.m. today.

Bennett had arrived to Washington early on Aug. 25 for his first official US visit as premier. He met with senior American Jewish leaders, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. His meeting with Biden was expected to focus on the American negotiations with Iran, rehabilitating Gaza and other regional issues. In the various meetings, Bennett emphasized his government’s desire to establish fresh, constructive relations with the current US administration.
