The Israeli military struck Hamas positions in Gaza following a rocket hitting southern Israel during the country’s election.

Israel Defense Forces fighter jets and helicopters struck a Hamas rocket manufacturing site and military post in the Palestinian territory, the IDF tweeted early Wednesday morning local time. It did not report on any casualties.

The Palestinian Authority’s WAFA news agency reported that Israeli F-16 jets fired five missiles at one site and two at another in Gaza. Both sites were destroyed and the strikes caused damage to other structures nearby. The agency did not identify the targets.

The attack followed a rocket being fired from Gaza on Tuesday. The rocket landed outside the city of Beersheba while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was campaigning there. Israel held a national election on Tuesday.
