UAE's Barakah nuclear plant fully operational after first such strike in Gulf
Emirati officials have vowed that the country’s energy ambitions will not be impacted by the strike, which was the first on a nuclear facility in the Gulf since the war began, adding that they have the right to respond to the attack.
UAE authorities said Monday that operations at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant were unaffected after a drone strike targeted the facility on Sunday.
What happened: The Emirati Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation said early Monday local time that safety and the “readiness of essential systems” at the facility were not affected by the attack.
“There has been no release of radioactive material, radiological safety levels remain within normal ranges, and there is no risk to the public or the environment. No injuries have been reported,” the official Emirates News Agency reported.
The authority said it will continue to monitor the status of the plant.
