Iran names US tech, finance firms in new Middle East threat list
Firms listed as potential targets included Oracle, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, IBM, Palantir and Nvidia, while banking giant JPMorgan and UAE-based AI firm G42 were also listed.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Tuesday threatened to target major US and regional firms in the Middle East, publishing a list of 18 companies ranging from Tesla to Boeing.
In a statement carried by Iranian news agencies, the IRGC said these companies should expect Iran's reprisal attacks starting at 8:00 p.m. Iran time on April 1, adding that their offices in the region will be “annihilated.”
Other firms listed included Oracle, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, IBM, Palantir and Nvidia. It also named banking giant JPMorgan and UAE-based AI firm G42 as potential targets.
Tech targets in the Middle East have been in the line of fire since the early days of the conflict, with drone activity disrupting Amazon’s cloud computing services in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain soon after hostilities erupted Feb. 28.
