Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested in a Tuesday address that his country would not completely withdraw from the Gaza Strip under the next phase of the ceasefire, which the Trump administration is pushing to advance.

"Israel will control the security zone from the Jordan River to the sea," he said, adding, "Now we are focusing on disarming Hamas and demilitarizing Gaza. This will either be done the easy way or the hard way." He added that no Turkish or Qatari troops will be permitted to enter Gaza as part of a global stabilization force.

Monday's recovery of the body of Ran Gvili, the last Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip, opens the door for advancing to the second phase of President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.

The first phase of Trump’s peace plan included the return of all the remaining hostages held by Hamas, living and dead, a partial Israeli military retreat and the reopening of the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza.
