Youth, strong AI adoption make MENA leading region for smartphones: OPPO

The Chinese mobile phone manufacturer's Lay Ren, who heads up the company's business in the Middle East and North Africa regions, said the Gulf is the epicenter of regional growth but stressed that North Africa is poised to follow.

According to the regional president of Chinese manufacturer OPPO, the Middle East and North Africa rank among the industry’s leading regions as global smartphone markets mature, driven by a young consumer base, strong appetite for premium devices and rapid adoption of artificial intelligence.

OPPO first established operations in the MENA region in 2015 and now has a presence in more than 13 markets. The mobile phone maker opened its regional headquarters in Dubai in 2019. OPPO’s core smartphone lineup in the MENA region includes the flagship Find X series, the premium mid-range Reno series and the entry-level A series.

Gulf, North Africa key growth engines

In an interview with Al-Monitor, Lay Ren, president of OPPO MENA, stated that the Gulf is the epicenter of regional growth, especially in the premium smartphone segment.
