Artificial intelligence–powered block-laying robots can help the United Arab Emirates meet its lofty real estate ambitions despite construction labor shortages, according to Anton Glance, co-founder of Buildroid AI.

Glance, along with Slava Solonitsyn, co-founded the US startup in 2020. On Nov. 24, Buildroid announced that it will launch the first robots to help speed construction of real estate and infrastructure projects in the UAE.

UAE construction boom

Glance told Al-Monitor in an interview that the robots, using Buildroid’s technology, can multiply cost efficiency by 3.2 times and productivity by 6 times on brick or block-laying construction projects compared to traditional, manual methods. Buildroid’s technology combines Building information modeling (BIM) with AI-driven digital twin simulations powered by Nvidia Omniverse to optimize robotic workflows, enabling faster project schedules, reduced costs, and higher quality on-site execution. Nvidia Omniverse is an open, real-time 3D design collaboration and simulation platform.
