Saudi investment minister visits Morocco, Senegal on Africa trade drive
Saudi Arabia has pledged more than $41 billion in investment in sub-Saharan Africa over the next decade.
Saudi Arabia’s Investment Minister Khalid Al-Falih led a delegation of business and financial leaders on visits to Morocco and Senegal this week, making the Gulf kingdom the latest in the region to step up official visits aimed at deepening economic ties with Africa.
What happened: The investment minister began his trip to Morocco on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency, meeting in Rabat with Economy and Finance Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui and other officials and business leaders to strengthen investment ties.
The two ministers signed an agreement to promote and protect mutual investments, safeguard investor rights and boost cross-border capital flows.
In an X post, the Saudi Investment Ministry said Al-Falih also met with his Moroccan counterpart, Karim Zidane.
