UAE president meets Saudi crown prince ahead of UN Palestine conference
The UAE and Saudi Arabia have strengthened cooperation since the Gaza war began in 2023, though their rivalry over regional influence and economic leadership remains.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited Riyadh on Wednesday for high-level talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, ahead of a Saudi-led initiative at the United Nations General Assembly this month on Palestinian statehood.
What happened: Sheikh Mohamed arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday, where he was received by Crown Prince Mohammed at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.

According to Emirati state news agency WAM, the two leaders discussed regional and international issues, “especially the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and ongoing efforts to address the resulting humanitarian and security implications.”
The two emphasized “the importance of reinforcing the foundations of regional stability, security and peace through the establishment of a clear pathway toward a just, comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.”
