President Donald Trump convened leaders and officials from several Muslim-majority countries on Tuesday to present a plan for postwar Gaza amid Israel’s ongoing military campaign.

The meeting, which Trump called his "most important meeting" at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) so far, brought together representatives from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan. Among the officials were Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Jordanian King Abdullah II.

Ahead of the meeting, Trump said, "We want to end the war in Gaza. We're going to end it; maybe we can end it right now. ... We're here to see if we can get the hostages back and get the war over."

Speaking to reporters afterward, Trump said it was "a very successful meeting, with all the big players except for Israel, but that's going to be next."
