Sudan: RSF drone strike kills 75 in Darfur displacement camp

The strike hit a mosque at Abu Shouk camp on the outskirts of el-Fasher during morning prayers, killing dozens and underscoring the rising civilian toll as RSF and army battles escalate in Darfur.

A drone strike blamed on Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces killed dozens of people at a displacement camp in Darfur on Friday as the group fought to drive the Sudanese army out of el-Fasher, the region’s main city, and the UN warned of mounting civilian casualties.

The attack struck Abu Shouk camp on the city’s outskirts, where a mosque filled with worshippers was hit during morning prayers, killing at least 75 people, according to the Emergency Response Room, an aid group operating at the camp.

"The bodies were retrieved from the rubble of the mosque," the group said in a statement.

The Sudan Doctors Network also blamed the RSF, accusing it of committing "a horrific massacre" by targeting a mosque. The group said at least 43 worshippers, including elderly and young people, were killed.
