Saudi Mining and Industry Minister Bandar Alkhorayef met with executives from more than 20 mining firms in Beijing this week, discussing investment opportunities in the kingdom's rapidly developing minerals sector.

The Saudi Press Agency reported Thursday that in his opening message to the mining executives, Alkhorayef stressed that Riyadh and Beijing’s close relations provide a strong foundation for investments across the entire mining value chain, from exploration to processing.

The session included detailed presentations covering Saudi Arabia's mining strategy, high-potential exploration areas and investor incentives, SPA reported.

Why it matters: Alkhorayef is on an official visit to China this week, and has so far met with a host of business leaders and Chinese officials including Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng, SPA reported on Wednesday.
