Israeli forces on Thursday said they imposed a "siege" on the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm following an explosion that damaged a military vehicle and injured two soldiers.

What happened: According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli troops closed the Jabara Bridge gate at the city’s southern entrance and sealed off the gates of the Ennab military checkpoint to the east, halting the movement of vehicles into and out of Tulkarm.

The siege follows an explosion earlier on Thursday when an Israeli armored personnel carrier struck an explosive device near the Nitzanei Oz crossing in the western part of Tulkarm, lightly wounding two soldiers.

Israeli forces also reportedly opened fire at residents and cars in the western part of the city, particularly around the western Nitzanei Oz crossing.
