Hamas faces red line in Trump's take-it-or-leave-it Gaza plan

The clock is ticking for Hamas to respond to a deal that would require its disarmament in exchange for an end to the war.

WASHINGTON — The world is awaiting Hamas’ response to a comprehensive ceasefire proposal from President Donald Trump that strikes at the militant group’s deepest red line: surrendering its weapons. 

Trump said Tuesday that he would give Hamas “three or four days” to respond to his proposal to end the Gaza war, which he unveiled a day earlier alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 

“Hamas is either going to be doing it or not, and if it’s not, it’s going to be a very sad end,” Trump told reporters outside the White House. 

When asked if there was room to negotiate, Trump replied, “Not much.”
