Saudi Arabia’s falcon auction aims to spin tradition into tourism gold
Under Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is seeking to diversify its economy and cultural tourism.
Saudi Arabia is hosting the International Falcon Breeders Auction 2025 this month, which organizers are hoping will boost the falcon-breeding industry in the Gulf kingdom and turn it from a cultural tradition into a thriving economic and tourism sector.
The event, organized by the Saudi Falcons Club, opened on Tuesday at the club’s headquarters in Malham city, north of the capital Riyadh, and will run until Aug. 25.
It features a wide selection of falcon breeds from renowned global producers, and the birds are available for purchase through a live auction attended by local and international falconers and breeders.
Falcon enthusiasts can also attend activities held during the event aimed at highlighting Saudi Arabia’s national heritage and supporting the sustainability of the falconry sector.
