WASHINGTON — US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed the top general overseeing the Pentagon’s main intelligence agency on Friday amid a new wave of firings of top military officials.

US Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Krause was relieved as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Friday, two US officials confirmed to Al-Monitor.

No reason was given for the firing, which has not been confirmed publicly by the Pentagon at the time of publication.

But it came just before Hegseth also relieved the head of the US Navy Reserve, Vice Adm. Nancy Lacore, and Rear Adm. Milton Sands, a veteran SEAL officer who oversaw the Navy’s Special Warfare Command.

The reasons behind their firings were also not clear. A spokesperson for the US Navy did not immediately return Al-Monitor’s request for comment.
