According to the Israeli military, the bodies of the couple were taken to Gaza after they were killed in their home at the kibbutz.
Ynet reported that the operation was carried out after the Shin Bet and the army obtained intelligence about the bodies' location, in the Khan Younis area, in southern Gaza. The remains of Haggai, an Israeli-American national, and of Weinstein, an Israeli-American-Canadian national, were held by the Palestinian Mujahideen Brigades, the same group that held the bodies of the Bibas family, one of whom was released Feb. 1.
