Israel’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer arrived in Washington on Monday to discuss with the Trump administration a possible ceasefire agreement with Hamas and the expansion of the Abraham Accords, including a potential thaw in relations between Israel and Syria, Channel 12 reported.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed to Al-Monitor that Dermer is expected to meet Tuesday with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff.

In addition to discussions on Gaza and Syria, Dermer will also raise the possibility of renewed nuclear talks between the US and Iran, as well as a potential visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House this summer, possibly in July. According to Haaretz, the timing of such a visit will likely hinge on the outcome of talks this week regarding a Gaza ceasefire.
