Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with President Donald Trump on Tuesday at the White House, as talks begin on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage-release deal set to begin in late February.

Netanyahu will be the first foreign leader to meet with Trump at the White House since he took office this month.

The Israeli premier will depart for Washington on Sunday and is set to return to Israel on Thursday, though the trip could be extended because many senior officials and senators have requested to meet with him, sources in his office told Ynet.

The sources also reported that Netanyahu's lawyers informed the Israeli court of the possible extension of his trip in order to get them to agree to postpone the next sessions of testimony by the premier in his ongoing graft trial.
