The leaders of Israel, the Netherlands and France condemned attacks on Israeli soccer fans on Thursday night in Amsterdam that the city's mayor described as an "explosion of antisemitism."

Riots broke out after Thursday's Europe League match between Israeli Maccabi Tel Aviv team and Dutch Ajax. Footage posted by the perpetrators on social media shows masked people tracking and attacking Israeli fans in the streets and near hotels where they were staying.

The attackers punched and kicked the Israelis, shouting among other things "Free Palestine" and cursing Jews. Hundreds of Israelis reported fearing to leave their hotels for their flights home.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu evoked one of the darkest days in Jewish history at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem Friday.
