Abu Dhabi's $302 billion sovereign wealth fund, Mubadala Investment Company, announced Wednesday it had invested in London-based Yondr Group, a hyperscale data center developer and operator.

Hyperscale data centers can scale appropriately as additional demand is placed on the system.

Mubadala's investment, for which the value was not disclosed, was made alongside US-headquartered asset management firm Apollo via an existing investment from Apollo-managed funds. Al-Monitor has contacted Yondr for more details.

It marks Mubadala’s third major investment in cloud data centers in three years, as the wealth fund looks to cash in on the ballooning demand for data center infrastructure. Yondr provides data center infrastructure for blue chip technology firms and has a contracted and reserved capacity of 878 megawatts, with 58 MW currently operational.
