Kurdish businessman Peshraw Dizayee was killed in an Iranian strike in Iraqi Kurdistan Monday, raising outrage and tensions between the two countries as the spillover from the Israel-Hamas war continues.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it hit “spy centers” belonging to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency in Erbil. The attack followed a suspected Israeli strike in Syria in December that killed a senior IRGC commander.
The Iranian strike killed at least four civilians, including 61-year-old Dizayee. The businessman’s 11-month-old daughter was also among the dead, the Kurdish Iraqi news outlet Rudaw reported.
