United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) visited Azerbaijan on Monday on a trip that could further boost energy ties between the two countries amid the wars in Gaza and Ukraine.

MBZ arrived in Baku via an Emirates flight and was greeted by Azerbaijani officials. He visited a monument to Azerbaijani soldiers and then attended a dinner hosted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, according to the official Emirates News Agency.

MBZ’s delegation includes Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Energy Minister Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, diplomatic adviser Anwar Gargash, Investment Minister Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Industry Minister Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, national security head Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi and other senior officials, according to a release from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
