ANKARA — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed a “new era” in Turkish-Greek ties on Thursday, emerging from his landmark visit to Athens optimistic that the two countries can improve their relations despite long-standing bilateral disputes.

“I believe that a new era between Turkey and Greece will continue and become stronger,” Erdogan said.

“There is no problem between us that cannot be resolved as long as we act with good will and focus on the big picture,” he added later, flanked by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
