Two Palestinian children were killed by the Israeli military in the West Bank city of Jenin on Wednesday, the Palestinian Authority (PA) said, as violence continues to wreak havoc in the occupied Palestinian territory, leaving more than 240 killed since the Gaza war.

WAFA news agency reported that 8-year-old Adam Samer Al-Ghoul and 15-year-old Basil Suleiman Abu Al-Wafa were shot dead by Israeli forces. The shooting occurred during an Israeli raid in the city’s refugee camp during which arrests were made, according to the agency.

When asked about the killings, the Israeli military told Agence France-Presse that its forces responded with live fire when explosives were hurled at them.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a press release on Wednesday they conducted a raid in the Jenin refugee camp overnight and killed Islamic Jihad fighter Muhammad Zubeidi as well as another enemy fighter identified as Hussam Hanon. The IDF added that it arrested 17 people and confiscated weapons during the raid, and that one of its aircraft struck armed fighters in the area.
