DUBAI — Dubai International Airport (DXB) saw a 49% increase in passenger traffic in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period last year and exceeded pre-pandemic levels, according to Dubai Airports on Tuesday.

The airport welcomed 41.6 million passengers in the first half of the year, which was “just over 100% compared to traffic recorded during the first six months of 2019,” stated the airport authority in a press release.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, said the second half of the year already saw strong demand from passengers in July and August, and that the rest of the year looks exceptionally busy.

"We’ve readjusted our forecast for the year from 83.6 million guests to 85 million — just 1.6% shy of DXB’s annual traffic in 2019,” said Griffiths in Tuesday's press statement.
