Turkey says it killed major Istanbul bombing suspect in Syria drone strike

The drone strike came a week after a Turkish prosecutor indicted 36 suspects including a top Syrian Kurdish commander, over their alleged links to the bombing attack in 2022.

ANKARA — A Turkish drone strike this week in northern Syria killed a major suspect in the Istanbul bombing attack, media reports said on Friday. 

Turkey’s state-run Anadolu News Agency, citing Turkish security sources, reported on the strike on Friday. It identified the target as Halil Menci and said he “played a key role in the planning and execution of the bomb attack.”
