Grant Wahl’s body reaches US as second journalist dies at World Cup in Qatar

Two journalists have died covering the World Cup in Doha, leading to controversy and speculation during the politically charged tournament.

American journalist Grant Wahl’s body arrived back on US soil on Monday following his death in Doha, as news on another reporter dying at the World Cup surfaced over the weekend. 

A State Department official said Wahl’s remains landed at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport at approximately 8:30 a.m. Monday. The official said the US government appreciated the cooperation from Qatari officials in repatriating his body.
