Who is Carlos Queiroz, the man who could be Iran’s coach at the World Cup in Doha?

Iranian state media reported that the veteran Portuguese coach will again lead the Iranian men’s national soccer team in Doha this year. However, the deal may not be complete yet.

The Iranian men’s national soccer team may bring back coach Carlos Queiroz to lead the team at the World Cup in Doha later this year. 

Who is Carlos Queiroz? Queiroz was born in Mozambique to Portuguese parents when the southern African country was a Portuguese colony. He had an “unremarkable” professional playing career before becoming a coach in the 1990s. He rose through the Portuguese national ranks and coached the men’s team from 1991 to 1993, according to the BBC
