Dubai supplier to replace coal with natural gas in bid to reduce carbon emissions

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company signed an agreement to provide Dubai with natural gas, which will be used to generate electricity. Natural gas is a relatively clean fuel but does lead to carbon emissions.

Abu Dhabi’s government oil company agreed Friday to supply Dubai with natural gas.

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a gas sale agreement with the Dubai Supply Authority to provide the latter with natural gas. The authority will use the gas instead of coal to generate electricity at the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in an effort to reduce carbon emissions, ADNOC said in a press release.
