Syrian Kurds seek support amid Turkish threats of military action

Syrian government forces have deployed in north Syria in anticipation of a Turkish military operation.

Syria’s state news agency SANA reported July 18 that the Syrian government has deployed heavy reinforcements to the cities of Ain Issa in the north of Raqqa province, and Manbij and Ain al-Arab (Kobani) in the east of Aleppo province. 

Also on July 18, Al-Watan news website, close to Damascus, reported that the Syrian army continues to deploy and reinforce its positions in the northern countryside of Aleppo and the northeastern countryside of Aleppo.
