Tel Aviv Stock Exchange continues to reach historic highs
The TA 125 index’s growth is being led by banks and not Israel’s large tech sector.
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange’s benchmark index is at a historically high level.
The TA 125 index closed yesterday at 2,150.92 points. The index has been steadily rising since late 2020. It has been consistently superseding its historic high points for about a year, according to data.
The TA 125 is Israel’s benchmark index and consists of the most popular stocks on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
Why it matters: The index is growing for a few reasons. Assa Sasson is deputy market editor for TheMarker — an Israeli business news outlet. He said the TA 125 primarily consists of “overweight financial stocks,” meaning stocks that form a disproportionately high part of an index. The index is 18% financial stocks and 7% technology ones, by comparison, he told Al-Monitor.
