Egypt and Kuwait agreed Friday to work together on a potential railroad linking Egypt to Sudan.

Egypt’s Ministry of International Cooperation signed the $2.5 million deal with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Kuwait’s official aid agency. The two entities will conduct feasibility studies regarding a potential 570-kilometer (354-mile) railway system connecting Egypt to its southern neighbor Sudan, the ministry said in a statement.
