Congress may vote next week on legislation to withdraw the military advisers President Barack Obama has sent to Iraq.
The House is weighing “possible consideration” of bipartisan legislation that would give the administration until the end of the year to withdraw all troops except those needed to protect US diplomatic facilities and personnel, the office of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., announced late July 18. The privileged resolution was introduced last Friday, July 11, by war critics James McGovern, D-Mass., Walter Jones , R-N.C., and Barbara Lee, D-Calif.
