As President Donald Trump boasted of “tremendous peace” in the Middle East at the World Economic Forum on Wednesday, two major security developments in the region are coming to a head: a US operation to evacuate ISIS prisoners from Syria amid the collapse of Kurdish-led forces, and a growing American military buildup in the Gulf as Washington weighs its options toward Iran.
