Recent Israeli strikes on Iran have killed several senior commanders, including Majid Khademi, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence chief, who was killed Monday. The attacks have targeted key figures within Iran’s intelligence apparatus and IRGC, reflecting Israel’s widening strategy of decapitating Iran’s leadership.

Maj. Gen. Majid Khademi, head of the IRGC’s intelligence body, was killed in an attack Monday morning local time, the IRGC has confirmed. He had served the Islamic Republic for nearly half a century in a range of intelligence and security roles, according to Tasnim. Khademi assumed the post in June 2025, replacing Mohammad Kazemi, who was killed in Israeli airstrikes during last June’s 12-day war. Neither Israel nor Iran have specified where the strike occurred.

The Israeli military said it carried out the strike, describing Khademi as one of the IRGC’s most senior commanders who provided intelligence to Iran’s leadership during the current conflict. It also accused him of overseeing the monitoring and suppression of protests during unrest within Iran in late December and early January.

Israel said later on Monday that it had killed Asghar Bagheri, commander of special operations for the IRGC's elite Quds Force. According to the Israeli military, Bagheri smuggled weapons from Iran to Israel and directed attacks on Israeli soldiers along the Israel-Syria border, recruiting former members of deposed President Bashar al-Assad’s forces. Iranian authorities did not immediately comment on his death.
