TEL AVIV — Israel is reportedly pouring intelligence into the United States against the backdrop of its assessments that President Donald Trump could order a strike on Iran within weeks.

Haaretz reported on Jan. 16 that Mossad Director David Barnea arrived in Washington to hold talks with senior American officials. On Thursday, Axios reported that the head of military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, flew to Washington earlier in the week to brief the Trump administration on specific intelligence it had requested about Iran. 

Israel is known to have significant information sources inside Iran and an enormous intelligence database, in which it invested billions of dollars to obtain over decades. 

"We share with the Americans everything possible and almost everything we have, in order to maximize the chances of success of a possible attack on Iran," a senior Israeli military source told Al-Monitor, speaking on condition of anonymity. "Israel eliminated most of the Iranian nuclear scientists and most senior commanders in recent years, and the Israeli experience accumulated over many years is now helping the United States in its various plans."
